Frequently asked questions
How to…
I’ve written a series of short articles with top tips to help you use the services of a professional photographer:
References?
I have more than 130 5-star reviews on Google, and a number of nice recommendations on LinkedIn. You can read what previous clients have said about me there.
Prices?
I charge an all-inclusive fee per hour of shooting, plus travel costs outside Brussels:
Per hour of photography in my studio – €100
Per hour of photography on-site – €150 for each of the first two hours of any day, and €100 for each additional hour
Planning, set-up, post-production (retouching etc.), delivery of digital image files with unlimited license to use the images delivered – these services are included in the price of the session
Printed passport photographs (only in addition to a regular portrait session) – €20 per person
How many photos?
This depends on a number of factors, but I typically deliver at least 25 high-quality, retouched images per hour of shooting.
Where is your studio?
In Schaerbeek, near the centre of Brussels. Parking in the street requires a paid ticket between 09.00 and 21.00 every day except Sundays. Bus 56 or 59. Tram 92, 55, 7 or 25.
Opening hours
By appoinment only:
Monday to Friday – 09.00 to 20.00
Saturday and Sunday – 09.00 to 18.00
Do you do retouching?
For every hour that I spend shooting, whether in the studio or elesewhere, I spend at least another hour editing the resulting photos. This is included in the price. I pick the strongest images and carefully work on each one to refine and balance the framing and the light, and to remove spots, shaving cuts and obvious flecks of dust. I will usually not retouch more permanent features of a subject’s appearance such as scars or wrinkles unless I am specifically requested to do so.
How do you deliver the photos?
I use a file transfer service to deliver digital files directly to your computer. I guarantee to deliver within a week, but typically do so in less than 48 hours. You will receive a download link by email. The delivery package contains each of your images in two separate, clearly labeled versions – one optimised for displaying on-screen and sharing online, the other optimised for printing.
Can you deliver faster for social media posting?
Yes! Event organisers often need a few images during the event itself, so that they can post them immediately on their social media accounts. If requested, I upload selected photos to a shared online folder SOOC (straight out of the camera), as the event progresses.
What happens if I lose my photos?
All the original files are archived on my system and securely backed up off-site in encrypted form. I do not usually charge for making a second delivery.
Black and white?
I shoot in colour. But I love black and white photographs and often deliver black and white versions in addition to the colour ones, at no extra charge.
Prints and albums?
I have good contacts with professional printers, and can arrange the production of framed or unframed prints, posters or albums to your specifications. However, prints are not included in my prices.
Are there things you DON’T do?
Video – I don’t do it
I am a specialist still photographer. However, I have good links with excellent Brussels-based film-makers, and would be happy to put you in touch with one of them.
Passport/ID photos – I only do them for portrait clients
If all you need is a few passport photos, the citizens services in the offices of each Brussels commune have photo booths (‘Photomatons’) that produce photos the right size for passports and ID cards very cheaply. There are also Photomatons in all the main train and metro stations.
If you would like to book a regular portrait session, then I am happy to make some nice ID photos at the same time, and can provide you with prints immediately. For this there is an additional charge of €20.
‘Accessories’ – I don’t provide them
I don’t provide clothing, balloons, pink ponies or any other accessories.
